"FREEDOM DAY!!"

My ancestors survived!! That's not the end of the story. We are still writing history today and while we've made great strides we still have many hurdles to cross and a ways to go.

I am emotional today not only because of the history of my people but the climate of the world given recent and continued events of racial injustice. We are still surviving!!!

Today, I celebrate Juneteenth knowing that I am not truly free indeed. I celebrate while working but beyond that I know that while celebrating I still have to fight to prove my worth to the American people. I read comments from a post of a local news station asking it's general public "Should Juneteenth be considered a national holiday?" The comments were disgusting and unreal but I was not surprised. It bothers me that people feel they can thrust power and opinion in order to oppress and manipulate others for their lack of security.
